The Leftscape - the shape of progressive conversation
Robin Renée, Wendy Sheridan, and Mary McGinley, began The Leftscape in May 2018. They had been reeling from the shock of the 2016 U.S. presidential election and were looking for ways to stay politically active and aware through the midterm elections and beyond. Among the things they discovered they could do together most effectively was to elevate diverse voices and work together to inform themselves and others about ways to help increase the health of our democracy. The podcast grew from this starting point to become a dynamic, biweekly show with great interviews, news, conversations on pop culture, self-care, and more, plus a fair number of laughs along the way.
The Leftscape features discussions on the most pressing current events, opens space for engaging personal dialogue, and welcomes guests from the worlds of activism, feminism, comedy, music, media, racial equity, science and technology, LGBTQ+ communities, spirituality, and more. The tagline of the podcast – the shape of progressive conversation – represents the gentle and not-so-gentle curves progressive people navigate in pursuit of honesty, social justice, and finding common ground. The current format starts out in good humor and moves into the pressing issues of the day with 3 Random Facts and the News. After the featured interview, you get to listen in on Why Is This Awesome? (one of the co-hosts rave about something they love), Ikigai (finding balance in work, enjoyment, and meaning), The Geekscape (a deep dive into some entertaining minutiae), or The Blanket Fort (conversations on healing and much-needed self-care in the maddening world).
Join Robin, Wendy, and Mary as they approach politics and culture not as pundits, but as creative people in the midst exploring life as artists, entrepreneurs, and engaged citizens. Be a part of the Leftscape family!
